Sanders Funeral Home - East CantonLouis D. Schwab, 74, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Aultman Hospital. Born May 2, 1951, in Canton, Ohio, to Ernest and Ester (Monnot) Schwab, Louis lived a life full of dedication, hard work, and passion for the things he loved.
A 1969 graduate of East Canton High School, Louis devoted more than 43 years to Sugardale/Fresh Mark Inc., where he served as a supervisor until his retirement. He was a past member of Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church and a beloved figure in the Stark County bowling community. As Executive Director of the Greater Canton Bowling Association, Louis and his wife played a significant role in organizing tournaments and leagues, leaving a lasting mark on the sport. His achievements earned him induction into the Greater Canton Bowling Hall of Fame. Bowling was more than a pastime for Louis—it was a way to connect deeply with his wife and two sons, sharing countless hours at the lanes and proudly aiming for his favorite number, 300.
Outside of bowling, Louis enjoyed fishing, owning and racing a drag car, and coaching little league baseball during his sons’ younger years. His adventurous spirit and love for family shone through in every chapter of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Marie S. (Poulos) Schwab, whom he married on June 26, 1976; sons, Philip (Christina) Schwab and Scott (Darla) Schwab; grandchildren, Nolan, Brennan, Collan, Morgan, Wyatt, Garrett, Everett, and Clara; brother, Ernie (Katie) Schwab; sister-in-law, Connie (Billy Mills) Deremer; brothers-in-law, Bill (Antonietta) Poulos and Patrick (Melanie) Poulos; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Louis Schwab will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Foltz Community Center, 224 N. Wood St., East Canton, OH 44730.
