Louis James Sheldon, 78, of New Britain, was called home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Born on December 5, 1946, in Rutland, Vermont, he was the son of the late Rose Alberico and Louis Charles Sheldon.
Louis dedicated over 30 years to serving his community as an employee at Farmington Convalescent Home. He also held a part-time position at Showcase Cinemas, where he was highly regarded for his dedication and humor.
Beyond his professional life, Louis cherished time spent with his family. He was an avid movie enthusiast, often enjoying weekend movies at AMC with his beloved wife. Louis will be fondly remembered for his loving spirit, his uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met, maintaining the best-kept yard on the street, his famous meatballs, and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years Halina Sheldon; his children, Sandra Sheldon and her fiancé' Stephen Velardi of Tolland, Louis and his wife Jennifer of West Palm Springs, Florida, Carrie Sheldon of Bristol, Priscilla Sheldon and her fiancé' Brian Walker of New Britain, Rachael and her husband Jose Marcano of Southington; his grandchildren, Anthony and Isabella Velardi, Megan and Jacob Sheldon, Schon Bruzas Jr, Cameron and Gabriel Marcano, and Nadia Walker. He also leaves behind his sisters Ruthie Dejohn and her husband Mark of New Britain, Cheryl Wetherall of Pennsylvania, Ellie Kruzewski and her husband John, Ann Scott, Doris Gallipo and her husband Joe, Mary Ray-Wyman and her husband Donald, and brother Fred Sheldon all of Rutland Vermont, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt Street, New Britain. Funeral services for Louis will begin on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. from the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, at the St. Ann's Church, 47 Clark St, New Britain, CT. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain following the Mass.
