Publish in a newspaper

Susan Labieniec, 71, of West Hartford, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025. Born and raised in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Helen (Biel) "Penny" Labieniec. Susan graduated from Pulaski High School and the University of Connecticut and received her master's degree in education from CCSU. Teaching was more than a career for Susan – it was a calling. She loved her students and found joy in helping them learn and grow. She taught at Holy Cross School, New Britain, for many years, and went on to teach in Hartford at the Simpson Waverly School and then the Parkville Community School, from which she retired.
A proud supporter of the University of Connecticut, she was an avid Husky fan and a longtime football and basketball season ticket holder. She rarely missed a game and cheered on the men and women with enthusiasm and pride. A big highlight was when she attended the 1999 UConn Men's Basketball Final Four games.
Susan dedicated her life to nurturing others – whether it was through her work as a teacher, her care for her family, or her unwavering support of her friends.
Family was the heart of Susan's life. She and Sharon lovingly cared for their mother, and made countless memories together and with family - great times filled with laughter and devotion. She also cherished her many friendships, maintaining close bonds with friends from every chapter of her life.
She enjoyed traveling and relaxing at home watching her favorite Hallmark Channel movies.
She will be terribly missed by her sister and two brothers, Sharon Labieniec of West Hartford, John Biel Labieniec and his wife Diana of East Londmeadow, MA, and Paul Labieniec of New Britain; two nephews, Christopher Noel-Labieniec of East Longmeadow, MA, and Nicholas Noel-Labieniec and his wife Kate of East Hampton, and their children Maxx, Braeden and Savannah; as well as her many beloved cousins and dear friends.
Her funeral service will begin on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 9:00 am at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, New Britain. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Burritt Hill.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Yesterday

My heart was deeply saddened by Susan's unexpected passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends as they deal with their loss. Susan was very caring of family & friends and sincerely genuine in her warmth & affection.
Just as Susan was a staunch UCONN fan, she was a staunch person in caring about others.I'm sure the memories of Susan shared by all will be precious beyond measure as she truly was a gift from God to us!
