Louis Edward Stanczak, known affectionately as Lou to his friends and loved ones, was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone he touched. Born on April 12, 1967, in the vibrant city of Chicago, IL, Lou's journey on earth came to a peaceful end on August 22, 2025, in the serene town of Glen Ellyn. Lou was surrounded by loved ones throughout his illness and until the very end. His battle with cancer showcased his immense strength and unwavering spirit, but in the end, he was called home, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and professional excellence.

Lou's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and science. He grew from a bright-eyed Chicago boy into a man of remarkable character, guided by his Catholic values. His academic journey led him to the University of Indiana, where he not only earned his degree but also laid the foundations for a career that would span over three decades. Lou's professional path in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry was marked by his tenures at Forest, Merck, Genentech, and, most recently, Incyte, where he served as an Oncology & Hematology Specialist. His dedication to his work went beyond the call of duty, as he sought to improve the lives of those battling life-threatening diseases. Lou's passion for science and his genuine care for his customers were the hallmarks of his career, and his contributions will continue to resonate in the countless lives he has touched.

Despite his own health challenges, Lou's commitment to his profession never wavered. He remained a pillar of strength and support for his team, inspiring them with his courage and tenacity. The love and admiration his colleagues held for him were a reflection of his friendly, loving, and generous nature. Lou's legacy in the industry will be felt for many years to come, as the seeds he planted through his work continue to flourish and grow.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lou's heart was always with his family. He was a devoted husband to Elizabeth and a loving step father to Isabel, Gavin, and Kendall. The joy of his family life was a source of immense pride for Lou, and he cherished every moment spent with them. From cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame sports teams to embarking on yearly ski trips and golf outings, Lou truly loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Lou is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Hermanson (née Canfield), his step children, Isabel, Gavin and Kendall Hermanson. Lou was preceded in his journey to the Lord by his father, Louis Joseph Stanczak. He is survived by his mother Carole Ina Stanczak (née Carlson) who instilled in him the virtues of kindness and compassion. His brother, Michael James Stanczak, and Michael's longtime partner, Nikki Oppman all of whom Lou held dear to his heart

As we celebrate Lou's life, let us remember the joy he brought to every room, the laughter he shared with friends and family, and the profound impact he had on those around him. His was a life lived in service to others, a life of purpose and passion. In the words of Scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Lou's journey on earth may have concluded, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Let us carry forward the light of Louis Edward Stanczak, a man who truly embodied the spirit of generosity, love, and unyielding faith.
