Louis F. Stumpf, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 21, 2025. He was born on March 1, 1940 to the late Louis H. and Dolores E. (Bakius) Stumpf.
Louie attended St. Roch Grade School and graduated from Southport High School. He had been a devoted member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church since 1968. Louis proudly served in the Army National Guard from August 1961 - August 1967. He received his professional training thru ITU and was employed throughout his career with Stumpf Brothers Meat Packing (his family's business), Central Publishing, Weimer Typesetting and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
Louie was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3660. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling. Louie was always fixing or building something, always working on a project, and never met a problem he couldn't solve. He was known for his willingness to help family and friends, and for his resourceful nature.
Louie was also an avid reader and regular mall walker at the Greenwood Park Mall.
Louie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Susie (Scott) Stumpf; daughter, Marie (Michael) Sais; sons, Joe (former spouse, Kathy) Stumpf and John (Carole) Stumpf; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Katie, Jake, Tyler, Antonio, and Javier; great grandchildren, Naomi, Ryan, Addie, and Ava; great-great grandchildren, Nakoa, Asher, and Peyton; brothers, Larry (Terry) Stumpf, and Rev. Monsigner Bill Stumpf; one niece; two nephews; and three great nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Stumpf.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at St Barnabas Catholic Church, 8300 Rahke Road, Indianapolis, IN. Additional visitation will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 9:00 am -9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am.
Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN.
Louie will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas Catholic Church or Franciscan Hospice House.
