Louise Dennis Dansereau, 81, peacefully passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 surrounded by her immediate family.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Dr. Keith Gardner. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 1:45 until 3:15 PM at the funeral home.
Louise, daughter of the late Thurman Lee and Bertha Lancaster Dennis, was a native of Pitt County. She lived her early life in the Chicod community and was a graduate of Chicod School. She began working for Hollowell's Drug Store and was later employed at ECU in the Registrar's Office for 37 years, retiring in 2007. As a young adult she was very active in an ECU service sorority.
Louise was an unconditionally giving person, who loved her family and never knew a stranger. She loved to work in her yard, designing it beautifully with flowers and concrete sculptures, which was a passion of hers. Some of her other passions through life were interior design, painting, sketching, ceramics, and entertaining with family and friends. Louise had a passion for working with Pitt County Elections as Chief Judge, as well as all positions with the Election Board.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Dennis and Sylvia Forbes, and a special aunt, who was like a second mother to her, Lela Jones.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Spain Adams and husband, Jason of Greenville; son, David R. Spain and wife, Krisann, of Raleigh; grandchildren, who she adored, Brittany A. Rivero and husband, Manny, Brock T. Adams, Zackary Spain, and Michael Spain; great grandson, Cruz Rivero; brothers, Ted Dennis (Deborah Barrington) of Greenville and Milton H. "Bud" Dennis and wife, Lois, of Clarksville, VA; and a sister, Carron Haddock and husband, Michael, of Vanceboro; a special aunt, Joyce Dennis Adams, and a number of special nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends.
