Louise “Lyn” Ware-Stringer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2025.
Louise "Lyn" Carolyn Ware-Stringer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Lakeside Hospital on July 9, 2025, with her loving husband of over 32 years, Mervin "Bud" Arthur Stringer II, by her side.

Lyn was born on November 17, 1946, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for four years and earned a master's degree in speech pathology from Florida State University.

Throughout her life, Lyn expressed her creativity in countless ways, especially through interior design. If she couldn't find the perfect piece to tie a room together, she would create it herself, though her guests were never the wiser. Her eye for detail and gift for making a house feel like a home were admired by all who stepped through her door.

In addition to her creative talents, Lyn had a heart for service. She was a lifelong educator and generously volunteered her time at the New Orleans Museum of Art, where she served as a docent for numerous exhibits.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and remembered for her warmth, her jingles, and her devotion to her "darlins."

Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Louise Ware; her sisters, Jeffery Pierce and Beth Chiles; and her grandchildren, Toby Stroll Jr. and Nicholas Hood.

She is survived by her husband, Bud Stringer; her children and their spouses: Jeff and Margaret Hood, and Naomi and Chris Mulkey, Mervin Arthur Stringer III; her grandchildren and their spouses: Keith and Callie Mulkey, and Tyler Mulkey, Lizzy Vise and Corbin Stringer; and her great-grandchildren, Toby and Alex Mulkey.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she and Bud were members. A service celebrating her life will follow directly after visitation.
