Louise Palandro Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Russell & Pica Funeral Home - Brockton on Oct. 7, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Louise Kathleen (Sousa) Palandro, age 89, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, Lisa, on Saturday, October 4, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Louise's vibrant spirit, infectious laugh, and extraordinary generosity will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, on April 30, 1936, to Emanuel and Mollie (Delpozzo) Sousa, Louise was a proud lifelong resident of the city she loved-a true Brocktonian at heart. She graduated from Brockton High School and began a career in the insurance industry. After taking time off to raise her family, she returned to work and completed her career with Arbella Insurance.
Louise met and married the love of her life, Michael Palandro, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in January 2021. The couple moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts, in 1999, where they built many cherished memories together. In the summer of 2024, Louise relocated to Glastonbury, Connecticut, to live with her daughter, Lisa, and her family.
Known affectionately by many as Little Lou, Weezy, Lou-Lou, and most cherished of all, Nay Nay to her grandchildren, Louise was outgoing, social, and full of life. She had a remarkable sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a heart that drew people in wherever she went. It was rare for her to turn down a social invitation-she loved being out and about, keeping busy, and staying active. Swimming at the YMCA was a particular favorite, and she continued doing so well into her early 80s. Fiercely independent, she lived on her own, insisted on driving herself, and-true to her proud Italian roots-famously refused to accept help of any kind!
Above all, Louise's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Whether looking at old photos, catching up on their latest adventures, visiting with their friends, playing board games and cards, or heading out for a fun afternoon, she was happiest in their company-and they, in turn, believed the sun rose and set on her.
Louise is survived by her beloved daughter, Lisa (Palandro) Stefanich, and her son-in-law, Johnny Stefanich, of Glastonbury, CT; and by the two lights of her life, her grandchildren, Serena (Renie) and Anthony (AJ) Stefanich. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Nancy Sousa, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A special mention goes to her nephews Jimmy, Charlie, Michael, Stephen, and Danny Shaw, whom she loved dearly and considered like sons.
Louise's family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to her dear friend, Karen Biedermann, whose unwavering love, loyalty, and friendship meant the world to Louise. Karen's kindness and devotion made her a true angel-someone the family will forever consider part of their own.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Palandro, and her brother, Larry Sousa.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday October 10th at 11 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater Mass directly followed by a burial in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne. A Celebration of Life lunch will be held afterwards for those attending.
