Lowayne Joanne Kuhar 3/2/46 - 6/15/25
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the (sudden) passing of Lowayne "Lou" Joanne Kuhar (nee Nolan), 79, a long time resident of Blairstown NJ. She is predeceased by her parents Leroy and Lillien Nolan of Lyndhurst NJ; her maternal grandparents Secondo and Sandrina Visentin of Lyndhurst NJ; and her paternal grandparents David and Margaret Nolan of Jersey City NJ.
Lou dedicated almost 60 years to nursing and nursing related fields, heading up the Emergency Room at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville NJ, working as Charge Nurse at Forest Manor Health Care Center in Hope NJ, and for the past 35 years she was Head Nurse of the outpatient surgical suite at Eye Physicians in Newton NJ.
She was a lifelong Girl Scout, and cherished her role as Scout Leader to dozens of girls of Troops 597 and 183. For a time she was also acting School Nurse at Blairstown Elementary School, and in-school health aid at North Warren Regional HS. But her biggest passion was spending weekends with her five grandchildren. From summer music festivals and trips to LBI and Maine with the Wooding kids to almost every weekend visiting zoos, aquariums, museums, the Crayola Factory, the Science Center, Baltimore, and a few trips to the beach with Captain and Anchor Lee, she lived for her five beloved grands.
Lou is survived by her two daughters Jaclyn Wooding and husband Michael, and their three children Lilia, Michaela and Holden from Ashburnham MA; and Lori Kuhar Oehling and her two children Captain and Anchor Lee of Whitehall PA; as well as siblings Lea Buschgans of Sarasota FL, Leroy Nolan Jr. of Palm Springs CA, and Lawrence Nolan and his two sons Vincent and Mark of Allenwood NJ.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 12-2PM at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown, NJ, with words of remembrance to follow. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Lowayne "Lou", please visit our Tree Store.
