Lowell was born in Jersey City, NJ to Robert & Evelyn Willard. He served in the Air Force later working as a truck driver for ATO CHEM, M&T Chemical and Univar. Upon retireement he found a new hobby as a school bus driver for the Breza Family and Villani bus companies.
His favorite pass times were the aimless day trips and adventures. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grand children grow up. You could always find him sitting in a chair people watching or chatting up a random stranger. He very much enjoyed pulling over on the Turnpike in Newark to plane watch as well as Liberty State Park to watch the cruise ships leave port on their adventure.
He is predeceased by his first wife Sandra Lee Willard; parents Robert & Evelyn Willard; and his brothers Lewis and Dennis Willard.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years Cheryl Smith and his sister, Barbara Meixell. As well as his daughters, Faith Cooke (Husband Bill) of Iselin, NJ; Noel Willard of Ocklawha, FL; grandchildren; Robert Thornton (wife Alys) of Jackson, NJ; Austin
Willard-Rodriguez of Piscataway, NJ; Kayla Hankerson of Ocklawha, FL; and Rebecca Cooke of Iselin, NJ; great-grandchildren; Aiden Thornton, Damian Rodriguez, Nivayah Rivet, Ajani and Aelia Campbell and many other loved ones and friends made along the years.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 2pm-6pm at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green Street Iselin, 08830. Words of Remembrance will begin at 5:00pm, followed by Military Honors at 5:45pm.
