He returned to operating and worked into his 80's on almost every major interstate highway in the Southeast. He and wife Annie enjoyed travelling the U.S. in their motorhome, especially the western states. He loved bluegrass music and was known to pick a tune on the mandolin he inherited from his grandfather Vade Pruitt. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh, story, and joke. Bud's wishes were to be cremated, no services at this time, with a family celebration of life at a later date.
