Loyal Michael Ducatte

Loyal Michael Ducatte was born in Jacksonville, NC on October 21, 1950 and passed away at home with his family on October 28, 2024 following a brief illness. He was the son of Loyal Edward and Lilli Morton Ducatte (both deceased). He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Worth County High School, Sylvester, Georgia in 1968. During high school, he participated in baseball, basketball, Beta club, Spanish club, and student council. As a senior, he was voted Most Dependable, chosen as Powder Puff Queen, and served as yearbook co- editor. On January 1, 1978, he married Sherry, the love of his life and wife of forty-six years. In 1980, he and his family moved to Tarboro, NC, where they lived until 1997. From 1997 until his death, they lived in Chesapeake, VA. Michael had a vigorous work ethic from an early age. His various careers included the Albany, Ga Police Department, where he was a lieutenant and instructor in their training academy. He was assistant manager at Marrow-Pitt Tru Value Hardware in Tarboro, NC. Later, he worked in warehouse and logistics management with MBM Corporation, Sara-Lee and Fast-Food Merchandisers. Since December 2009, he worked as a sales associate at the Home Depot store located in Chesapeake, VA. At Home Depot, he developed a wide circle of friends and coworkers who respected his knowledge and expertise. Michael deeply loved his family. He is survived by his wife Sherry. He is also survived by his children Amanda (Rick) Morris, Heather Taylor, Jamie Ducatte, and Kristen (Kevin Brandt) Ducatte; grandchildren Hunter & Cole Morris, Braden Wood, Mia Ducatte, Brittany Taylor and Brantley Burton; brother Keith (Janet) Ducatte, sisters Denise Ducatte and Cathy (Gene) Rountree, as well as several nieces. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322. All family and friends are invited to join his immediate family as they honor their beloved husband, father, papa, and brother.
