Loyce (Thorp) Baxter, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Sterling Hills Rehab & Healthcare Center.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M..
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Garden of Memories with Pastor Ken Dowdey officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Loyce was born August 20, 1934 in Nolan County, Texas to Carl Monroe and Mattie (Morgan) Thorp. She graduated from Highland High School. She married Buddy Baxter on August 14, 1951 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a longtime member of Champion Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be truly missed by her family.
She is survived by son, Shane Baxter & wife Annis of Sweetwater, Texas, and their children, Lance Baxter and wife Tasha, Kelcee Drake and husband Dustin and Jace Baxter and wife Rani; son, Chad Baxter and wife Charlene and their children, Skyler Baxter and wife Kristen, Scott Baxter and wife Brettney, and Maegen Joiner and husband Lance; nineteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Mattie Thorp; husband, Buddy Baxter; daughter, Julie Ann Baxter Wilkinson; four sisters, Ella Mae Rankin, Ruth Collier, Lillian Thorp, and Joyce Reed; and one brother, Carl Thorp, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Skyler Baxter, Scott Baxter, Lance Joiner, Jace Baxter, Brodey Baxter, and Dustin Drake.
Honorary pallbearer will be Lance Baxter.
