LuAnn Carol Howe, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 85 in Sacramento, California on June 25, 2025.
LuAnn Carol Storm was born on November 23, 1939, at her family farm house, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1957. LuAnn went on to attend Idaho State University and graduated in 1961 with the Bachelor of Science Nursing. She then passed the State Board in Idaho to become a Registered Nurse (RN). During her four years at ISU, she was active in the student nurses’ organizations, holding various offices. She was socially active as a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She married a pharmacy graduate from Idaho State University Steve Meurer and moved to Sacramento, California in 1961.
In California, LuAnn had a successful and extensive nursing career. She held positions ranging from nursing in hospitals, to a pharmaceutical representative and home health agency administrator. She also served as President of the Sacramento Valley Pharmacy Auxiliary, President of the Golden West Orthopedic Nurses Association, and was program director for Area 4 on aging and in-home respite care for the elderly. She was awarded the prestigious Idaho State University School of Nursing Professional Achievement Award in 2013, recognizing her lifetime of achievements and accomplishments as a nurse. She remarried in 1997 to beloved Robert Howe.
LuAnn was a devoted Christian and for many years was an active member of Town & Country Lutheran Church. LuAnn had a passion for helping others. She would often invite the less fortunate over for the holidays and family gatherings. She was always doing things for the those in need.
LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Alice, brothers, Harry, Paul, and Gary and sister Bonnie. She is survived by her brother Bill. Loving Mother to daughter Kim and two sons Rex(Karyn) and Stephen. Stepchildren Steve(Judy), Susan(Rebecca) and Scott(RuiXia). Grandkids Jack, Nick, Mandy, Andrew, Michael and Jodi. Along with 7 great grandchildren.
To honor and remember LuAnn, a memorial service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery on Folsom Boulevard. On July 25 at 11 AM, followed by a lunch and refreshments. Interment will be at Bakke Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota this fall. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
