Lucille Owens, of Randolph, formerly of Melrose, by way of Castlegate Road in Dorchester, a heartwarmingly kind and generous soul, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, after a terminal illness, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 4, 1940, in Waynesboro, Georgia, Lucille was the cherished daughter of the late Horace and Clara Lee (Williams) Owens. Her warmth and loving spirit were the cornerstones of a life richly lived and lovingly remembered.
A dedicated and loving mother, Lucille's nurturing heart was the pillar of her family. She is survived by her sons, James Edward Owens of Randolph, Ronald Joseph Owens of Lynn, her daughter, Melissa Monique Owens of Brockton, and is preceded in death by her son Stanley Dionne Owens. She was the devoted sister to Rosa Lee Owens of Melrose and was predeceased by her sister Blossie Mae Britt. Lucille's legacy of love continues through her six grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Lucille is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews residing in MA, GA, TX, VA, NC and CA who will continue to hold her memory dearly in their hearts and cherish her lifetime of love, compassion, and generosity. She will be forever remembered with love and affection by her uncles, aunts and cousins originally from her home-state of GA. Lucille graduated from high school, setting the stage for her long and respected career. For over 26 years, she was a skilled stenciler at Raytheon Corp., where her dedication and work ethic were unmatched. Her passion for advocacy and support for her colleagues shone brightly during her tenure as the Chief Steward for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), a role she held for many years with unwavering dedication.
Lucille's zest for life was evident in her varied interests and hobbies. She was an avid lover of card games, and puzzles, and her competitive spirit was legendary among those who knew her as a Scrabble Champion. Lucille's joy was palpable in the bingo halls and during her spirited trips to the casino, where her presence was a source of happiness for all around her. An excellent cook, Lucille's Southern cuisine was a testament to her Georgia roots and a treasured gift to her family and friends.
Beyond her hobbies, spending time with her family and friends was Lucille's favorite pastime. Her home was a haven of love and laughter, where memories were made and cherished. Lucille's legacy is one of unwavering love, kindness, and generosity-a beacon of light to all who were blessed to know her.
As we bid farewell to Lucille Owens, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply loved. Her radiant smile, her gentle touch, and her boundless love will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Lucille's spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, as we carry forward the lessons of compassion and joy she so effortlessly embodied.
Relatives and friends of Lucille Owens are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 31st, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (RT. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 10:00 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park, where she will be laid to rest with her son Stanley.
