Leslye Ann (Gallagher) Balewicz, of Hanover, formerly of Randolph, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully at her home on October 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 78. Born on May 19, 1947, in Boston, Leslye was the daughter of the late George and Alyce (McClellan) Gallagher. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Balewicz, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories.
Leslye's life was a testament to her loving nature and friendly spirit. She was the proud and loving mother of Jeffrey Balewicz of Hanover, Gregory Balewicz and his wife Kelley of Holliston, Julie Balewicz of Hanover, and Jonathan Balewicz of Bolton. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, nurturing her children with a gentle strength that only she possessed.
After graduating from Randolph High School, Leslye began her career as a telephone operator and supervisor, a role she held for many years before her well-deserved retirement. Her professional life was marked by her kind demeanor and the friendly rapport she built with everyone she encountered.
In her youth, Leslye's grace and charm were recognized when she was crowned Ms. Randolph High in 1965, a title that reflected her outer beauty and her inner warmth. However, it was her role as a devoted sister to Barry Gallagher of Hanover, and the late Richard, George, and Wayne Gallagher, that further highlighted her commitment to family.
Leslye's joy multiplied as she became the cherished grandmother of Kristin, Kevin, Zoe, Kara, Leo, Adam, Noah, Ryan, Andrew, and Sydney. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she reveled in every moment spent with them. She was a constant presence at their school events, sporting matches, and recitals, always cheering them on with pride.
Friends and family will remember Leslye for her unwavering love, her kind-heartedness, and her friendly manner. She was the sort of person who made everyone feel welcome, her home a haven of warmth and laughter. Leslye's interests extended beyond her family, as well. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in the company of her loved ones and reveling in the happiness of her grandchildren.
Leslye lived a life filled with love, kindness, and friendship. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 26th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., Randolph. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 27th, at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Parish at St. Mary Church, 392 Hanover St., Hanover. Burial will be private.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115 or to Jimmy Fund, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
