Richard A. "Mac" MacDonald, of Halifax, formerly of the Hough's Neck section of Quincy, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, kind heart, and friendly demeanor, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. Born on October 20, 1945, in Quincy, he was the son of the late Donald and Agnes (McNeil) MacDonald, and the devoted husband of the late Alice G. (Wall) MacDonald.
Richard's life was one marked by dedication to his family and his craft. As a proud high school graduate, he embarked on a career that would see him become a respected Master Plumber, working for many years with Micci Fuel. His earlier years were spent at the Quincy Shipyard, where he honed his skills and work ethic that he carried throughout his life.
A loving father, Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and family values in his children; Mark MacDonald and his wife Stacy of Brockton, Richard MacDonald of Quincy, and Julie MacDonald of Randolph. He was the cherished Papa to Mollie, Alexis, Jack, and James, each of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life. His unwavering support and love for his family were evident in every aspect of his life.
In addition to his immediate family, Richard found companionship and happiness with Debra Creed of Halifax, with whom he shared many road trip adventures, exploring new places and making memories together. His family extended to include many nieces and nephews, each of whom will remember him fondly for his warm presence and the wisdom he imparted.
Richard's zest for life was apparent in his personal interests. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, relishing the sense of freedom and adventure that came with riding. His love for ice cream was well-known among his friends and family, often serving as a sweet excuse to gather and enjoy each other's company. Above all, he cherished spending time with his loved ones, whether it was a grand adventure or a simple moment at home, each minute was precious to him.
As we bid farewell to Richard, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His gentle spirit and friendly smile will be greatly missed, but his influence will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Graveside Service on Tuesday, October 21st, at 11:00 AM in the Central Cemetery, 327 North St., Randolph.
