Richard William "Rick" Connors, of Marquette, MI, formerly of Randolph, MA, passed away suddenly, on September 28, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 2, 1944, to the late Joseph and Venira (Carcioni) Connors, Rick's dynamic presence and infectious humor left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Rick's early life was rooted in the community of Randolph, where he attended Randolph High School before venturing to Northern Michigan to pursue higher education. Following college, Rick embraced a life of service, joining the Air Force and defending his country with honor. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that remained throughout his life.
After his military service, Rick's adventurous spirit led him to the world of professional gambling, where he became a respected figure. His strategic mind and unshakeable calm under pressure earned him recognition among peers and a legacy of thrilling tales that would be recounted by friends and family for years to come.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Rick's heart belonged to the world of sports. A lifelong and fervent Raiders fan, he could often be found cheering on his team with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life. His love for football was more than a pastime; it was a way to connect with others, to share in the highs and lows, and to revel in the spirit of competition.
Rick's personal life was rich with love and laughter. He was the cherished former husband to the late Elizabeth Clancy, and a loving father to his children, Richard Connors and his wife Kris of Avon, Christine Connors of Rhode Island, and Michael J. Connors and his partner Michael of Ohio. His role as 'Grandpa' to Samantha and her partner Harris, and 'Great Grandpa' to Aiden, brought him immeasurable joy. His siblings, Patricia Walker of Randolph, Paul Connors and his wife Ann of Randolph, and Kathy Fiest and her husband Jack of Georgia, will remember him as the brother who could always elicit a smile, no matter the circumstances. His many nieces and nephews, too, will cherish the memories of their uncle's unique blend of humor and heart.
As we bid farewell to Rick Connors, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Though he has left this world, the memories of his funny anecdotes, passionate debates, and heartfelt moments will remain with us always. We take comfort in knowing that Rick's spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of his beloved family and friends.
A private service will be held at a later date.
