Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Lucinda "Cindy" Ann Bartlett Farrant on
October 6, 2024, at the age of 74. Cindy passed while visiting close friends in upstate New York,
near her hometown of St. Johnsville. She was born on May 15, 1950, in Little Falls, NY, to the
late John Bartlett and Lucille VonderBorn.
Cindy spent much of her younger years in upstate New York, forming lifelong friendships while
working at places such as Nick Stoner Inn, Vroomans, and others. She later found immense joy
in her work at Timber Ridge Elementary in Marietta, GA, where she served in the school library
for many years until her retirement in 2013. Cindy always spoke fondly of her time at Timber
Ridge, the close friendships she made there, and the many children she had the pleasure of
reading to and meeting.
A devoted member of Mt. Bethel Church in Marietta, GA, Cindy rarely missed a Sunday service.
She was an involved member that coached multiple different sports teams her children were on
at the church. When it became difficult to attend in person, she learned to stream services on
her TV, ensuring she stayed connected to a community that was very important to her.
Cindy also had a passion for basket-weaving, creating beautiful pieces for friends and family
over the years. She enjoyed losing herself in classic crime thrillers and Stephen King novels. She
would love to recount memories, pass on family stories, and simply talk with you for hours. She
was a true friend to everyone she met, and always wanted to know how you were doing, even
if she wasn’t feeling her best. She really felt as if she was ‘mom’ to everyone. Her smile was
warmth itself, with sometimes a hint of mischievousness underneath. She was always
immensely positive and truly was one of the brightest spots in our family. To know Cindy was to
love her, and what a joy it was to love her.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Marcus "Mark" Farrant III; her son, Aaron Solar, his
wife, Sarah Dabney, and their three children, Alexander (10), William (10), and Caroline (6); her
son, Scott Farrant, his wife, Andi Farrant, and their daughter, Persephone (1); her daughter,
Kate Farrant; her sister, Betsy Johnston; and her brother, John Bartlett.
A visitation and memorial service in Cindy’s honor will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at
10:30 a.m. at the Canton Funeral Home and Cemetery, 10655 E Cherokee Dr., Canton, GA
30115. An inurnment ceremony will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080
Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA 30114.
