He was born on August 11, 1956, to the late Ruby Ward-Mathis and George Mathis in Dawson, GA. He migrated to Hartford, CT in the 60's where he attended the Hartford Public School System and began his life.
He leaves behind a daughter and son Natasha (Deonte) Emmons of Chicago, Illinois, and Lucius Mathis Jr of Hartford, CT. Lucius has 9 grandchildren, 2 brothers Mercer (Lois) Mathis of Hartford, CT, Lloyd (Patricia) Mathis of East Hartford, CT. 3 sisters Ora Knighton of Windsor, CT, Barbara (Willie) Jones of Bloomfield CT, and Yvonne Kirkland of WIndsor, CT Predeceased by 3 sisters and 1 brother. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends whom he grew up with in Westbrook Village, Baltimore St, and Albany Ave.
Throughout his life he was employed with several companies with a specialty in Home improvement. Lucius loved having a good time laughing, joking, and enjoying the comforts of his friends and family. He lived his life to the fullest as a rebel and no one can tell him otherwise. He was loved and will be truly missed, and we ask that good times are remembered in the time of mourning.

Avenue, and we played football at Weaver High School. I am so sorry for your loss. I am unable to attend his homegoing service. Prayers for strength, comfort, and peace.
