Luiciana S. Menditto

Luciana "Lucy" (Severi) Menditto, 92, of Newington, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late John Menditto for 51 years before his passing in 2002. Lucy was born in Argentina on December 13, 1932, daughter of the late Gino and Sandrina Severi. She was a faithful communicant of Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. Most importantly, Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She will be greatly missed.
Lucy is survived by her daughters Norma DeRosa, and Alexandra Simboski and her husband Frank; son-in-law Perry Cornelio; grandchildren Christine Conway, Adrianne Ott, Perry Cornelio, Jr., Kyle Cornelio and his wife Sarah, Allissia Metty and her husband Christopher, and Alison, Julia, and Matthew Simboski; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Nora Cornelio; and brother Mario Severi.
She was the heart and soul of our family-a caring, strong, and brave woman whose love knew no bounds. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished matriarch, she led with grace, wisdom, and unwavering strength. Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured her love into every moment spent with them. Affectionately known as everyone's Nona, she had a rare gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and truly at home. One of her greatest loves was gathering the family around the dinner table-a tradition we proudly continue every week. Her legacy of compassion, resilience, and deep family bonds will live on through the generations. To know her was to be deeply loved. Her presence will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lucy's family on Sunday, June 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Home at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Her funeral will begin from the funeral home on Monday, June 23rd at 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. She will be laid to rest in the Chapel Mausoleum in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial donations in Lucy's name may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
