Luis Pisito Figueroa

Luis Pisito Figueroa passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2025.
Pisito was a son, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, and a friend. He was well known in his community and admired by all who knew him.
He was the 3rd of six kids on the maternal side and is survived by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He is also survived by 3 siblings on his father's side.
Luis Pisito Figueroa grew up playing basketball on the courts of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and singing his childhood away pretending to be a member of La Fania as he was influenced by the salsa movement of the late 70s and the 80s. Hector Lavoe was his musical idol. Our last memories of him include his signing to his favorite songs and making everyone laugh with his easy humor. The influence of his upbringing was a staple of who he was. He was known for his dancing and singing wherever he went.
He was a Knicks, Yankees, and Giants fan. Pisito moved from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn, NY with his paternal family in the mid 80s. He then moved to Connecticut to which he called home for more than 30 years. With ties to both Hartford and Willimantic, he built a community that knew who he was whenever he went out.
Pisito was respected. He was a man's man. A person with character, charisma, charm, integrity. A man that was inclusive, giving, and funny. A person that was known as the smile of the family and the life of the party. He was also vulnerable. A man with flaws that were used as teaching lessons to his family members so that they wouldn't make the same mistakes. He was everything you wanted from a family man and even more than we can express in words.
He leaves behind his mother, Carmen Velez; his partner, Carmen Torres; his daughters, Miara Figueroa, Jocelyn Figueroa Loukas, and his son, Ruben Serrano. He also leaves behind his four granddaughters and three grandsons and an entire family that loved him unconditionally and will miss him greatly.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, (February 28), from 5:00 p.m. to 8;00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Ave, West Hartford. Burial will be on Saturday, (March 1), at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove, Rd, Bloomfield.
