It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Michael P. Condon, 70, of Portland, CT, on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Mike was born in Morristown, NJ, on May 6, 1955. The family relocated to West Hartford in 1961, where Mike became a student of the West Hartford Public Schools and a proud graduate of Conard High School's Class of '73. Mike participated in multiple sports growing up and played on Will Hunter's Lacrosse team at Conard. He found his ultimate passion in music. A member of the percussion sections throughout his school years, Mike continued his music career at CCSC where he was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. After graduation, Mike served as a member of The First Company Governor's Foot Guard attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and had the distinction of being recognized as Soldier of the Year in 2002. Mike made lifelong friendships at the Guard and loved participating in the tradition and regalia the Guard embodied; marching in local and State parades, hosting the Governor's Ball at the Hartford Armory, and having the honor of marching in the 1989 Presidential Inaugural Parade for George H.W. Bush in Washington, D.C., where after breaking his drum stick and reaching for a spare in his boot, Mike found himself face to face with a Secret Service Agent.
After earning his MBA at RPI, in Hartford, Mike had a fulfilling career in the accounting and finance field with the last twenty-years serving in the role as Credit Manager for United Aluminum Corp. Mike was looking forward to a well-deserved retirement at the end of the year. What made Mike happiest, besides rooting for The New York Football Giants, was giving back to the West Hartford community through his involvement as a volunteer coach with the West Hartford Youth Lacrosse League and the West Hartford Youth Football League. He loved seeing his athletes move on to play at the local high schools as he continued to follow their athletic careers.
Mike was predeceased by his loving parents, Gerald and Phyllis Condon and infant sister, Kathy. He leaves behind his siblings, Jeanette (Victor) Fraulo, Jerry (Diane) Condon, and Bill (Anne) Condon, along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Karen Condon and his dog Benji-Lee. Mike was a lover of animals, whether they be feline or canine, and nurtured that love both with his own beloved animals and those he came in contact with through his volunteer services at Dog Star Rescue.
Visitation will be Monday, October 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a brief Prayer Service at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A private Graveside Service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dog Star Rescue, PO Box 721, Canton, CT 06019 or Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
