Luther "Hoot" Conatser, 78, went to his home in Heaven, surrounded by his family, Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025.
He was born August 28, 1946, in Jamestown, Tennessee, the son of Louie and Etna (Atkins) Conatser. Hoot graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1964 and attended Ball State University.
Mr. Conatser began his career at Westinghouse as a Crane Operator, and then a Field Specialist when it became ABB. Hoot retired in 2019 after 50 years of service.
Hoot was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for several years and helped build their first church building. Hoot taught Sunday School class and was also a Youth Leader with his wife Karen and the Church Treasurer. He was a good witness for the Lord and led many people to Christ.
Hoot loved to fish, traveling to Canada for over thirty years with his family and friends on fishing excursions. Hoot was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Conatser; three children, Doug (Debbie) Conatser, Mark Conatser, Jami (Eric) Stanley; nine grandchildren, Jon (Ashley) Conatser, Jared Conatser, Jacie (Bryce) Oxley, Kortney (Tanner) Davis, Gunner (Callie) Conatser, Hunter (Addison) Stanley, Lexi (Levi) Hunt, Garett Stanley, and Graci Stanley; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Billy (Mary) Conatser; a sister, Genny (Clyde) Limle; a brother-in-law, Randy (Donna) Christopher; a sister-in-law, Sandy Dunsmore; and many nieces and nephews.
Hoot was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher Conatser; a great grandson, Otto Lee Oxley; and two daughters-in-law, Angela Conatser and Tammy Conatser.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 25, 2025 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025, or an hour prior to services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 9400 E. Windsor Road, Selma, IN 47383, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
