Born Lydia Ann Hartfield in Brookhaven, MS on Saturday, June 4, 1960, a precious baby girl was lovingly welcomed into the family fold of J. T. and Gladie Mae Hartfield.
She attended Beaumont School where she met her lifelong companion, Jody Dortch. Their relationship of love and undying friendship produced two beautiful baby boys, Lorenzo and Thomas Hartfield.
LydiAnn, as sweetly known by all, was a fun-loving and selfless person. She lived a great and happy life doing exactly what she loved, cooking mouthwatering meals to nourish your soul and body, while opening her home to nurture and teach countless babies along the way. Over the years, numerous parents of Perry County entrusted her with their darling children while they worked or attended school. Before daycare existed, we had LydiAnn.
God summoned our beloved from Forrest General Hospital on Sunday, November 2, 2025, and allowed peaceful rest with family diligently at her side. Scripture reminds us the death of His saints are "precious in the sight of the LORD," (Psalm 116:15) as they will "rest from their labors" where their deeds follow them (Revelation 14:13). For believers, it is not an end but a transition into eternal life and a blessed departure from earthly suffering. As we live, so will her memory and her Godly teachings.
A profound legacy of love, kindness and treasured memories are left for us to reminisce and share with generations to come.
Her love and legacy lives through her handsome, cherished sons, Lorenzo Hartfield and Thomas Hartfield, adoring siblings, Bobby Tatum, Vicki Lynn (Don) Moody, Milton Lewis, Linda (John) Fairley, Mickie Dortch and Lenise Adams, lifelong, valued companion, Jody Dortch, precious, blessed grandchildren, Sakura "Danielle" Hartfield and Jeremiah Truvillion, nephew loved as a brother, Larry Hartfield Sr., dear aunt, Faye Hartfield-Kennard, Elijah Hartfield and Sharon Hartfield, devoted nieces, Adrian Jackson, Elaine Maxwell, Cherciel Williams, cherished great niece, Destiny Reed, close friend, Mary Pearl Bolton, an overflowing abundance of loved, dear nieces and nephews, a wealth of beloved children to whom she dedicated her unwavering love and support, other close relatives, Pastor, church family and friends.
"You stood beside my mother's side,
With open arms and endless pride.
You helped to raise me, day by day,
With gentle strength to guide my way.
Your laughter filled with light,
Your wisdom made the hard things right.
You gave your love, so pure, so true -
The kind of love that few ever knew.
Two hearts together shaped my days,
You both taught me life's truest ways.
To be kind, to stand tall, to always forgive,
To cherish each moment we're given to live.
Now heaven holds you, soft and near,
But in our hearts, you're always here.
Auntie, your love will never depart -
You live forever in my heart.
I love you and thank God for you."
