Lynn D. Barry was a dedicated cattleman who cherished his work. He was passionate about farming and took great joy in raising and feeding cattle. Beginning at the age of 12, he routinely drove cattle trucks to the Omaha Stockyards, returning before school began in the morning. He collected cars and motorcycles and loved driving fast. Rival teams in high school knew his name. Stories of feats of physical strength abound from competitors and employees. But more than the colorful stories that many love to tell about experiences with Lynn, is the man who knew God and felt His presence as he watched each sunrise and especially the cherished sunsets. Lynn was quietly generous to many. He was a dependable friend, a good neighbor, a father and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Brenda, in 2006. Lynn’s favorite days were spent with her in their log home on the hill.

Lynn was the eldest son of Dean and Wilda Barry. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Jason (Deb) Barry and Chad Barry; siblings, Sharon (Bob) Sauvain, Randy (Lori) Barry and Kim Barry; step-children, Graham Harper, Hilary (Andrew) Moores, Elyse (John) Mottet and Evan Harper; grandchildren, Jacki, Cassi, Aaron, Matt, Brenton and Brielle; step-grandchildren, Leighton, Vera, Conrad and Steele; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Jaivyn; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, Samaritan’s Purse or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Following Lynn’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held in his home.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 3-8 p.m. with family present from 5-8 p.m. all at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa.
