Lynn Paul Scallan was born November 12, 1955, in Marksville, LA and passed away November 12, 2024 in Ruston, LA.
Lynn grew up in Mansura and graduated from Mansura High School where he was a standout basketball and baseball player and where he met his wife, Denise. He went on to play basketball for East Mississippi Junior College and then transferred to Louisiana College to be closer to his high school sweetheart who he married on May 31, 1975. They settled in Alexandria where they had 2 sons that he passed his love of sports on to. Since childhood, he had been a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Cardinals, LA Lakers, and LSU Tigers and he never missed watching a game with his sons. He coached both boys as they played basketball and baseball and never missed one of their soccer or football games. He was always ready to play catch, shoot baskets, or toss a football.
After his sons graduated high school, he traveled all over the United States for his work in oil refineries. He was always ready to help a friend in need and was generous to everyone in his life. He gave his life to the Lord and was baptized with his wife Denise on April 3, 2022. Since then, he was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ruston, LA where he loved serving on the Wednesday night cooking team and enjoying the fellowship of his Sunday school class.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Adrienne Scallan. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 49 years, Denise Scallan; sons, Chris Scallan and wife, Libby and Nicholas Scallan and wife, Megan; grandchildren: Michael, Adrienne, Chelsea, Audrey, Savannah, Madeline, Ava, Emma, and Sophia Scallan; brothers, Keith Scallan and wife, Donna and John Scallan and wife, Tanya; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jerry Houston, Roy Pye, Evan Allen, Jeff Pipes, Andy Clark, Jim McCallum, and Jody Stuckey at the service in Ruston and Michael Scallan, John Dale Douglas, Tommy Douglas, Glen Gagnard, Luke Welch, Harold St. Romain, and Perry Scioneaux at the service in Mansura.
