Our angel, gone too young and too soon, Magill Anne Madigan left this earth on December 25, 2023, to join her beloved sister Dacey in the afterlife.
Magill was so bright and quietly smart; she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Binghamton High School and received a Liberal Arts degree from SUNY Broome. Magill was a true artist, athlete, fitness fanatic and an absolute perfectionist. She was passionate about many things. She pursued classical ballet and photography. She studied ballet with Master Raphael Grigorian who was a mentor and friend to her. They developed a strong bond that would endure for years. Many of Magill's happiest memories revolved around dancing in the magical "Nutcracker" ballet, dancing many of the roles over the years. Magill had her own showing of her photography at The Bundy Museum while she was in high school. Eventually, creativity in the kitchen became the deepest expression of her artistic passions.
Magill found peace and contentment throughout her life being near water, especially the beach, Quaker Lake, and Oquaga Lake. She was so determined and proud of herself when Uncle Tom taught her to water ski on her first attempt and took a victory lap around the lake in celebration.
Magill was extraordinarily strong both inwardly and outwardly, she also had a vulnerability that she shared with those closest to her. Magill was deeply loyal and loving, and a teacher and inspiration to her closest friends. She made sure your voice was heard even in your absence. She was non-judgmental and wise beyond her years; Magill was accepting of all who came into her life. Serious and profound, Magill sought to understand spiritual life. She shined as a chef and gave it her all, and as a friend, she gave you her heart.
Magill started her career while still in high school bussing tables at the Number 5 Restaurant where she first displayed her uncompromising work ethic. She held various positions until she dreamed of becoming a chef and found her home and comfort in the kitchen, where she pursued her passion and showcased her creativity as a sous chef. She was a perfectionist, she showed up early and stayed late, if it wasn't perfect, it wasn't done. Magill took command of the kitchen and excelled in her field. Her colleagues became her second family, and she loved them dearly. Magill so appreciated and respected Jim McCoy for not only giving her a chance to prove herself but also for being there for her in countless ways over the years. Magill also deeply respected Matt Jones for teaching her how to become the best chef and Matthew Karlgut for always believing in her and for giving her the strength to continually push forward. Number 5 was Magill's second home, she was the "Princess" to some and jokingly, she was "Mad-again" to others.
Magill was a truly authentic person. She was accepting of people from all walks of life and did not pass judgment on others. Like her sister, Magill, loved all things furry, especially her beloved dogs, Brody and McGee, her "therapy dogs" and "babies".
Magill loved deeply and passionately, and she loved her family and close friends vigorously. Magill will be deeply missed by her devoted mother, Elaine Madigan, her father, Brian Madigan, grandmother Cecilia Ravas, countless special aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had a special bond with cousins Grant Madigan and Nicole Perez who provided her with unconditional support. She will also be missed by her special friends, Devon Struppler and her son Daysun, and Anjelica (Jeli) Duran. She is predeceased by her sister Dacey, grandparents Robert and Ellen Madigan, and Paul Ravas, aunt Julie Madigan, cousin Emily Shank and uncles Fred Madigan and Thomas Race.
Magill's light is an eternal light that will shine forever. Her spark is unforgettable as she lives on in our hearts and our souls. She was called Home. We have faith and take solace in knowing that she is at peace. We are comforted in knowing that she is with her beloved sister Dacey, their combined light offers us protection and guidance. Let us be open to hear their messages of unconditional love toward all beings.
The family will remember Magill with a private service. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Catholic Charities of Broome County Food Pantry at https://www.catholiccharitiesbc.org/what_you_can_do/donate.html

Magill was my best friend in kindergarten. I always wanted to be just like her. She was so much fun to be around. I moved schools after 3rd grade but we reconnected in high school (thanks to social media). I´ll never forget her smile and how much she enriched my childhood. Sending prayers to every life she touched as she will be missed greatly. May she rest peacefully.
