Mamie Allen Obituary Arrival
Mamie Nell Pressey Allen, third child of the Late Mr. Charlie (Buster) and Mrs. Katherine (Fannie) Garvin Pressey, was born on a pineapple farm in a small township known as Flatwood, FL (located between Boynton Beach and Lakeworth). There were three siblings, Charlie Pressey Jr., the Late John Douglas Pressey, and Marguaree Pressey, respectively.
Training
She was a product of Christian education by graduating from Ephesus Church School located 816 Ninth Street, West Palm Beach. Due to financial reasons, her Christian education was interrupted in the 4th year with one year of public school attendance at Rangeline School, located on 441 {State Road 7) and Lakeworth Road.
Following 8th grade graduation, she attended Pine Forge Institute currently known as Pine Forge Academy, located in Pine Forge, PA. After graduating from Pine Forge, she attended Oakwood College, currently known as Oakwood University, to study Pre-Nursing. With encouragement from the former West Palm Beach Mayor Eva B. Williams, she graduated as a License Practical Nurse.
Recreation
Her enjoyment of ceramics, crochet, fishing, traveling, cooking, reading, skating, amusement parks, singing, and listening to music has accented her love for life. She has traveled to 28 of the 50 states. As an international traveler, she traveled to Bahamas, Bermuda, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, France, and England.
Service to Humanity
Mamie was employed by Palm Beach County Home and General Care Facility, which serve patients of all ages. She provided nursing care for her community for 38 years. Her serve was shared with many other facilities such as Mediplex Rehab on Jog Road, King David Nursing Home on Old Dixie, Lakeview Nursing Home (Dr. Romano Nursing Home) on Lakeview Avenue, Heartland on Prosperity and PGA Blvd, Just for Kids home care, and Hospice home care.
Christian Service
Sister Allen decided to accept Jesus as her Savior at age 6, however, she was denied the opportunity to be baptized because of her age. But she never regretted her decision to follow her Savior, therefore upon her 8th birthday, she entered the watery grave and held her membership in Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church from childhood to death. Throughout her Christian Walk, she served her Lord as a Young Adult Choir Member, Assistant Church Clerk, MV Leader, Cradle Roll & Primary Sabbath School Leader, Hospitality Committee Member, Sabbath School Secretary, Finance Committee, Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, School Board Member for 20 plus years, Health and Temperance, Honorary School Fundraiser, and supplier of school first-aid materials. Sister Mamie Allen sacrificially supported many students with anonymous donations towards tuition and graduation gifts.
Union
Mamie Nell Pressey met the Late Ronald A. Allen (deceased March 19, 2001) and united with him on April 20, 1975. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Keith A. Allen (Miranda), lneke A. Allen, and Rodney A. Allen. These three blessings were blended with one god-son and five siblings resulting from the Late Ronald's prior unions.
