Manuel Faustino Rocha

Manuel "LaLa" Rocha, 88, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Manuel, better known as "Papa," was a lover of life and food. He always left his plate clean, leaving those around him wondering, "Where does he put it?". In his younger years, he loved spending time in Fox Point at The Boy's Club or in New Bedford, dancing the night away. He was also an accomplished track runner, loved swimming, and was an avid reader.

Papa seemed like a quiet man, but don't be fooled-if he got your ear, you were sure to hear a story about the times he worked for the telephone company, life in New York, the best Portuguese foods, or his time working for General Electric. He will forever be quoted for his famous catchphrases, "Don't be silly," and "Yeah, right". He also loved being the "candy man," often carrying a pocketful of lollipops to hand out to anyone he met.

Papa will forever be remembered for the joy and kindness he brought to everyone around him-and he will be especially remembered whenever we smell Vicks.

Papa was the best papa anyone could wish for. He would do anything and everything for his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Esperanza, of Warwick; his three daughters, Elizabeth, Janet, and Raquel; and his cherished grandchildren, Vanessa, Paige, Jonathan, Amanda, Alexander, Nathan, Jade, and Angel. He is also survived by his two brothers, Anthony and Joseph. May Papa rest in peace, joyfully playing with his beloved Zoey.

Services for Papa will be private and held for immediate family only.
