Marc Austwick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home & Crematory on Jun. 8, 2024.
Marc Anthony Austwick, beloved son of Reginald and Phyllis Austwick, was born on October 3rd, 1960, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in North Chicago, IL. He tragically passed away on June 5th, 2024, in Highland Park, Illinois.
Marc attended Deerfield High School and DePaul University, later pursuing a successful career as a Medical Distributor. However, his true passion lay in the simple joys of life. He loved traveling, exploring new places, and experiencing different cultures, never turning down the opportunity for adventure and time with friends. Golf, hunting and fly fishing were his passions, bringing him together with those he cared about deeply. His knack for storytelling was legendary and lit up a room.
Above all, Marc cherished spending time with his friends and family. His sons; Taylor, Dilan, and Hunter, were the center of his world, and he was immensely proud of their accomplishments. Marc was also lovingly devoted to his spouse and best friend of over 40 years, Laura, who was his childhood sweetheart. He never passed up an opportunity to express his adoration and appreciation for her.
Marc will be remembered for his generous and kind nature. He had an uncanny ability to collect friends wherever he went, and his impact on the lives of others was immeasurable.
In his memory, Marc leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness. He will forever be missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 17th 2024 - 01:00 PM - Lake Forest Cemetery - 1525 Lake Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Fall.

We met Mark and Laura about 25 years ago in Hawaii on a golf course. We were both wearing Merit club T shirts and that bonded us. Mark and I had many rounds at Merit as well as in Palm Springs.
We all know there was no dull moment when Mark was there. A great guy, fun person to be with, fierce competitor. My heartfelt condolences to the family. Hard to live with the knowledge that he is no longer with us.

I´m sad I couldn´t be a part of this photo but found this gem of some of my all time favorite people to work with. Marc, you were one of the warmest and most welcoming people I´ve worked with in this industry. I always knew I´d have a laugh with you. We all miss you so much. My deepest sympathies for your family.

I am probably the oldest to know Marc ** late 1960 . seeing photo's of him in this guest book is like looking at his father Reggie. Both he and Phyllis had to be immensely proud of the man he became. A sad ending to a life cut short but his legacy will endure. Condolences to his immediate and extended family . Jim Rossi

Marc was the definition of enthusiasm, loyalty & love. I met him & Laura over 20 years ago through business, yet they always treated me like family. A constant theme in Marc´s life was his dedication to Laura & his sons. Even in a short chat, he´d voice concern for them.
I´ve never known anyone quite like Marc, who had that aura of welcoming warmth around him.
Marc, you´ve made a lasting impression on me. You´ll be missed but never forgotten.
Much love to you, Laura, & your boys.

I remember Marc from early days in Deerfield, Marc was friends with Corto and Don. I was friends with Dons older brother Bob and we all hung out at their house in Deerfield in our younger years.
Just a few months ago I ran into Marc, after not seeing him for 50 years he recognized me and proceded to take me right back to our early days reminiscing and retelling stories with all the antics as only Marc could do.

I am very sorry and saddened. Marc was an Orthopedic Surgical Product Representative that called on me for over 25 years. However, he was also
a close friend. He introduced me to Al Sellars (Dewey) at a Notre Dame vs. Stanford football game in California and the 3 of us would often reconvene at
Notre Dame games. He loved his wife dearly and was proud of his sons.
I remember one of his answers to a question of mine. A grandson of mine is heavily into hockey at a high level. I said "Marc, what did they get out of this heavy duty hockey?" He said, "they learn how to navigate airports !"

You can´t make old friends.
Unspoken understandings in rolling with the punches through the thick and the thin-for over 50 years.

You had a great run, as we absorb your beautiful energies into our hearts & minds forever.

Love You Brother

I have known the family since Junior High. The last time I saw Marc was in 2011 at a reunion of friends from high school. It was a fun evening filled with memories and laughter. My heartfelt condolences to Laura and the entire family. Much love to you!
