Obituary published on Legacy.com by Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center - Imlay City on Feb. 18, 2025.
Marc Victor Musial of Leonard, Michigan, was born in Detroit on July 22, 1966, to Elizabeth T. Musial. He reluctantly left this world on February 3, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. To know Marc was to love him.
Marc grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan, graduating from Sterling Heights High School in 1984. The Musial household was always the heart of gatherings, fostering friendships that lasted a lifetime. As a child, Marc traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with his family, igniting a passion for adventure that he later passed on to his own family.
Marc's greatest love was his family. He met Pam in 1988 at Western Michigan University, and they married on November 6, 1992. Before welcoming their children, Cody and Sierra, in 2007, Marc and Pam embraced a life of adventure-skiing, scuba diving, hiking, and traveling as much as they could. Together, they explored 49 states, skied in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, and dove in some of the world's most breathtaking destinations, including the Caribbean, Tahiti, the Galapagos, Cocos Island, Socorro Island, Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia. Their hiking adventures took them across the American Southwest and on a hut-to-hut trek through New Zealand's South Island.
When Cody and Sierra were born, Marc and Pam didn't slow down-they simply adapted their travels to include their newborns. With the help of Elizabeth and her partner, Robert Olenzek, the family explored Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida, and the Southwest. As soon as they could, Marc introduced Cody and Sierra to skiing-before they were even three years old. Many cherished holidays were spent skiing together in Colorado, and as the kids grew, they also shared Marc's love for diving, exploring Roatan, Bonaire, the Maldives, and Florida.
Marc found joy in life's simple pleasures-days spent on the shores of Lake Michigan, searching for sea glass and fossils with his family, evening bonfires with friends, and the thrill of a great concert. A lifelong music lover, he passed his passion on to both Cody and Sierra. Cody introduced him to big band music, leading to treasured moments spent listening to records together.
A true automotive enthusiast, Marc graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering in 1991, but he left WMU with more than a degree-he left with lifelong friendships. He dedicated 32 of his 33-year career to Chrysler (through its many ownership changes), where he was highly respected. As an engine dyno specialist, he was a key calibrator on the original Dodge Hellcat program, a testament to his tenacity and passion. Marc held five U.S. patents in various automotive areas and loved mentoring the next generation of engineers. Whether guiding young professionals or teaching Cody and his friends in the garage, Marc was always eager to share his knowledge. A true Mr. Fix-It, he tackled every home project with confidence, never needing to call in a handyman.
Marc leaves behind his loving wife 32 years, Pamela Duval Musial, and his adoring children, Cody and Sierra Musial, along with his beloved fur boys, Odin and Ollie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth T. Musial. He is also survived by Elizabeth's life partner, Robert Olenzek, his sisters Isabella Musial and Teresa Musial, his in-laws Clements and Barbara Duval, Jeffrey and Beth Duval, and Colleen Smith, and seven nieces and nephews. Marc also leaves behind heartbroken friends who were like family, The Piochs (Michael, Julie, Emeline, and Lily) and The Krozeks (Danielle and Madilyn).
Pam, Cody, and Sierra will carry Marc's adventurous spirit and all their cherished memories with them as they navigate this immense loss. A private celebration of Marc's incredible life will be held by the family at a later date.
