Marcel A. Nicolasora, 54, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Tammy L. (Kenneson) Nicolasora. They've been together for over 30 years and married for more than 22 years.
Marcel was born in Quezon City, Philippines on February 24, 1971, son of the late Ramon and Carmen (Ancheta) Nicolasora. Earlier in his career, he worked as a valet attendant at the Holiday Inn Club Safari, at CVS, and in the Dietary Department at Waterbury Hospital. He proudly served as a secretary for the Waterbury Public Defender's Office for the last 28 years, until his passing. He was a graduate of the Wilby High School, Class of 1989.
He loved sharing special moments with his children, especially exploring museums and enjoying concerts, and found joy in playing chess, competing in tennis tournaments, table tennis, singing karaoke, fishing, and camping with his friends.
Marcel is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy, and his three beloved children: Lorenzo, Samantha, and Sophia, along with their cherished cat, Temmie. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Mildred Blazas, and her supportive husband, George, as well as their children, Alexa, Olivia, and Brendan of Naugatuck. In addition, he is survived by his father-in-law, John Kenneson, mother-in-law, Linda, brother-in-law Jason and his wife, Sandy, and sisters-in-law Patricia, Sandra, and Maryann with her partner, Jay. Marcel will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews: Krystle, Bob, Santos, Chris, Angelica, Angelina, Jinora, Anthony, JJ, Bianca, Destiny, Jamal, Bella, Ant Jr., Khaleesi, Atreus, Selena, as well as Keila, AJ, Damian, Quan, and his children Quan Jr. and Sy'era. He also leaves behind his cherished godchildren: Olivia Blazas, Angellina Mercado, Madison Bueno, and Ava Rodriguez.
The Nicolasora family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional ER nursing staff at Waterbury Hospital for their compassionate care.
We also wish to acknowledge the many special individuals who enriched Marcel's life, including his friends from the Middlebury Racket Club tennis community and lifelong friends Earl, Mike, BJ, Lou, Max, Eben, and Maura among others. Marcel lived life to the fullest, finding joy in giving and bringing happiness to others-whether by preparing meals, offering thoughtful gifts, or simply sharing meaningful time with those he loved. His generosity and selflessness were at the heart of who he was.
Arrangements: A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow later in the spring at Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
