Marcela (Mamang Cel) Velasquez Rivera, beloved mother to four children, 87 years old, passed away peacefully in her home on May 26, 2025 in Dublin, Ohio surrounded by her family and loved ones leaving a void her family cannot fill.

She was born in Angeles City, Philippines in January 17, 1938 to Engracia Espino Velasquez and Bernardo Velasquez. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Mamang Cel finished high school and graduated college at Republic Central Colleges in Angeles Pampanga major in Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduating college, she taught English to high school students at Republic Central Colleges.

Many years later, she moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1997.

Mamang Cel was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ambrocio Rivera, beloved parents, Engracia Espino Velasquez and Bernardo Velazquez, her son, Abelardo Rivera.

Mamang Cel, as she was known to her family and friends was a devoted and loving mother to Daisy Fukuzawa, Dublin, OH, Abelardo Rivera (deceased), Benjamin Rivera married to Grace, Alberta, Canada, Conrad Rivera married to Analee, Dublin OH; Her eleven grandchildren are Jun, Juvel, Abigail, Princess, Yozell, JC,Erika, Polydan,Rosavel, Nico and Kenneth Borgie and great grandchildren Soji, Annabelle, Arnold, Benny, Bella, Liam, King Conrad, Prince John, Arthur, Kaiser and Kaiden.

Mamang Cel loved to sing and dance and always sang the song, “Gaano Kita Kamahal” and she loved to play Bingo with her friends and family. She loved her family very much and she was a dedicated , loving, kind mother, grandmother and friend.Mamang Cel was a bright light to her family and all those who loved her.
