Marcella Marie Dines, age 97 of Butler, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Medicalodge of Butler. She was born on October 21, 1927 to Lowell Arkley and Mildred Marie Pyle Frieze in Dade County, Missouri.
Growing up in rural Missouri, Marcella embraced the values of hard work and community spirit from an early age. After graduating from the Aldrich high school, she channeled her dedication into various roles. Marcella took pride in her work as a homemaker, as well as her time spent serving customers at Wynnes Women's Clothing and Levy's Clothing Store before retiring from Butler Building and Loan.
Beyond her professional life, Marcella was deeply involved in her community. She was a vital part of extension club work, a cherished volunteer at the senior center, and a reliable dispatcher for the senior citizen taxi service for 25 years. Her commitment to service was further evidenced by her active participation in the get-togethers group, the Women's Auxiliary at Bates County Memorial Hospital, and her steadfast presence in the Christian Church of Butler and the Happy Hill Church of God.
Marcella's passions extended into every corner of her life. She found a special joy in the simplicity of outdoor activities, whether it was tending to her yard and flowers, taking walks, or reading her beloved Bible. She cherished decorating her home for each season, enjoyed competitive bowling, and most of all, loved spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Her friendly nature and warm smile will be remembered by all who knew her. Marcella is survived by a loving family, including her two daughters Marcia McElwain and Lynn Kauffman and husband David, all of Butler, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer McElwain Hudson and husband Pat, Jon McElwain and wife Toni, Jesse Kauffman and wife Josi and Kent Kauffman; seven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, Ronnie, Bradley, Rene, Isabelle, and James; and a sister, Florilla "Frosti" Tiona of Butler, Missouri, alongside many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband, Eugene Dines, whom she lost in 2010; her son-in-law, Ronnie McElwain; and her infant brother, Lowell Frieze Jr.
