She was born August 17, 1932 in Galesburg, IL to Hobart and Ila Faye (Edelman) Hummel. She married Irvin L. Nelson in St. Augustine, IL on December 24, 1951. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and son, Michael.
Surviving are three children, Mark (Cindy) Nelson, Michelle (Marvin) Homan, Margo Nelson; four grandchildren, Molly (Cesario) Diaz, Megan (Anthony Ault) Homan, Taylor (Bernie Smith) Pfeifer, Travis (Kristina) Pfeifer; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Lydia, Cesily, Sloane, Colson, Greyson and Sebastian.
Marcella was very involved with Home Extension in Washington for many years, serving as former President. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Private services will be held with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, IL. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home.
