Marcelle L. Guth (Lavoie) ObituaryMarcelle Lavoie Guth, eighty-six, passed away on September 3 rd, 2025, in New Haven, Connecticut. Marcelle was born on October 31 st, 1938, in Causapscal, Canada, to Ernest and Antoinette Lavoie. She grew up in the province of Quebec, and after marriage, moved to Bethany, Connecticut.
Marcelle led the New Britain Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program for over twenty years, devoting her professional life to the well-being of mothers and children. After retirement, Marcelle worked as a volunteer for the Connecticut Hospice and joined the staff of the Clark Memorial Library in Bethany. Marcelle was known for her love of nature, animals, travel, and theater. Her favorite activity was walking on the trails and around the lakes in Bethany with family and friends.
Marcelle leaves behind William, her husband of fifty-seven years, and daughter Valerie. In addition, she is survived by siblings Marie, Odette, Alice, Georges, sisters-in-law Ghislaine and Miriam, brother-in-law Carl, and many nieces and nephews. Marcelle was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Helene, Henri, Roger, and cousin Rachel.
Memorial services in Connecticut and Quebec will be held at a later date. and the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with her arrangements. The family wishes to thank Marcelle's exceptional medical care team in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and chaplain Rabbi Leah Tenenbaum for her emotional support during this difficult time.
