Marcus Allen McPeek, 41, passed away on November 7th, 2023 in Park Ridge, IL.
Marcus was born on June 23, 1982 to the late Bobby Bruce Clevinger and Christy Lee McPeek Gillis, in Chicago, IL. After Marcus graduated from East Leyden High School in 2000, he attended Triton College for some time before following in his father's footsteps and becoming a Sewer/Tunnel Laborer for Local 2.
Marcus is survived by his beautiful daughter Madilyn Irene, wife Natalie (Nedza), sister Amber (Gillis) Artwohl, Papaw Gary Clevinger, Great Aunt Barb Childres, Uncle Dale Clevinger, Aunt Cooki (Uncle Mike) Amerine, Son In Law to James and Marilyn Nedza, Brother in Law to Jake Nedza and Tim Artwohl, Nieces Audrey and Emmie Artwohl, Cousin to Thomas Bowling, Corey (Nicole) Clevinger, Curtis (Laura) Bowling, Danielle Amerine (Josh) Stewart, Dale McPeek, Shaun Amerine (Ashton). Also, so many friends that turned into family.
Marcus is preceded in death by Granny Tootsie Mullins Clevinger, Grandparents Garnett and Frank Turner, Uncle Dale McPeek, and Aunt Laura Bowling.
Marcus loved watching and cheering Maddi on in softball and basketball more than anything. Maddi acquired her love for basketball from Marcus, and he was her coach for a couple of years as well. He cheered for the Cubs, Ohio State, and the Kentucky Wildcats when he wasn't cheering for her.
He listened to all types of music, from country to oldies, blasting music or singing wherever he went.He enjoyed telling stories and jokes to anyone that listened, and always had a smile on his face. Marcus was the mayor of the block, he would say hello to everyone that walked by, offer them a beer and have conversations with them. That was the southern charm in him.
You could always catch Marcus wearing something with a Cubs or Ohio State logo on it, along with a hat on his head.
Marcus wasn't really a "dog" person until Maddi. She fell in love with our foster puppy, Skye, he couldn't say no to her. A couple of years later, Maddi wanted another dog, which then we adopted Daisy, unfortunately she passed away at 6 months. Maddi and Skye were heartbroken until Bleu was adopted into our family. All friends and family's pets would gravitate to Marcus, probably because he would always give them table scraps, treats, or belly rubs.
Marcus was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was very clever and full of knowledge he gained through all his life experiences.
In lieu of flowers, support of Maddi's future is appreciated.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, he made sure you knew it. He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
