Margaret Clare Crudden (nee Gavigan), was born on May 26, 1935, in Aclare, County Sligo Ireland to parents Joseph and Margaret Gavigan. She passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025.
Clare joins her beloved husband Matty who predeceased her in 2001, and her siblings Helen, Teresa, Fr. James, Kathleen, Cecilia, Joe Michael, and Sean.
Clare lived her life filled with Irish spirit, passing down the traditions and stories of where she came from to her children and grandchildren. In the last several years, she loved her travels to Ireland, England, Italy, and Spain. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of her Catholic faith and family, leading by example throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted children; Mary Clare (John Corcoran), Monica (Mark Scully), Kathleen (John Condon), Vincent, and Joseph (Kristin). A cherished grandmother, Clare was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Kelly, Jack (Julia), Erin, Clare, Matthew (Jenna), Ryan, Caitlin, Grace, Sean, Dennis, Thomas, and Jack. Clare is survived by her brother in law, Attie Crudden and his wife Margaret and her sister in law Breeda Gavigan. Clare was blessed with many nieces and nephews in the U.S., England, and Ireland.
Visitation services will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, 125 Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park, NY, on July 9, 2025, beginning at 10:15 AM. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
