Ypsilanti, MI, to Lawrence and the late Mamie Davis.
She is survived by her father, Lawrence Davis; siblings, James S. Walker and Eddie Walker; sister-in-law Linda Tuesley; nieces and nephews, Randy (Michelle) Walker, Cheri (Todd) Howard, Joshua Walker, and Isiah Walker. She is also survived by her great-nieces and nephews Brandyn (Janel) Kearney, Elli Howard, Randy J Walker, Alyssa Walker, Nicholas Walker and her great-great-niece and nephew Mila Kearney and Braxyn Kearney, extended family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mamie Davis, and siblings James R Walker and Daniel Walker.
Maggy's life testifies to her vibrant spirit and dedication to service. She was a loving daughter and sister, a cherished aunt, and a friend to every single person she met. She was a passionate sports enthusiast her entire life. The only thing she enjoyed more than playing a round of golf or cheering on the Detroit Tigers at the ballpark was sharing those experiences with the ones she loved - particularly relishing the tradition of attending twenty Detroit Tiger's opening days with her father, Larry. She also cherished watching the Super Bowl and supporting her alma mater, the Michigan State Spartans, in various sports events alongside her Dad; her love for sports was matched only by her love for her family and friends.
Maggy graduated from Ypsilanti High School and later attended Michigan State University, where she was a proud member of the Spartan Marching Band. She continued her education at Detroit College of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree and served as the Special Projects Editor for the Detroit College of Law Review.
Throughout her distinguished career in law and public service, Maggy embraced roles of immense responsibility and impact, constantly displaying her zeal for justice. Maggy's professional path began as a law clerk where she worked her way to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Oakland County, MI and then to Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit. She then moved to Washington D.C. to serve as a Trial Attorney in the Special Operations Division of the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section. Thereafter, she undertook various positions including Special Counsel John McCain's 2008 Presidential Campaign. After the election, she assumed the responsibility of Deputy Assistant Director at the National Drug Intelligence Center in
Washington, D.C. Her latest professional role was as Assistant General Counsel at the Federal Bureau of Investigation where she continued to demonstrate her dedication to upholding the law and pursuing justice until her retirement twelve years later.
Maggy's lifelong service to justice earned her numerous accolades including the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Director's Award, the Director of National Intelligence National Intelligence Professionals Award, and her appointment by President George W. Bush to serve as Principal Deputy Director of the Office on Violence Against Women from 2003 to 2005. Maggy earned awards not only for her professional achievements but also her personal ones too. As an avid marathon runner, she earned well over twenty medals throughout her life.
Beyond her achievements, Maggy was well known for her sage advice, infectious humor, and unwavering loyalty. If anyone ever had a problem or simply wanted to talk through something, Maggy was the one to call and she always had the best advice. Those fortunate enough to know her as Aunt Maggy will have that name etched in their hearts forever. With countless trips to the ballpark, Tigerfest, museums, their respective sporting events or the grand tour of DC, Aunt Maggy was always seeking ways to engage with her niece's and nephew's interests and passions. Her friends and family will deeply miss her fun-loving spirit, gentle nature, and ready smile that shines as an enduring flame to all whom she loved.
