Margaret Powell Duthu

Margaret Ann Duthu went to her heavenly home on May 24, 2024, at her surrounded by her love ones after a long illness. Margaret was born on October 18, 1940 in Louise, Mississippi to Ruby Walker Taylor.
She attended Isola Consolidated High School where her passion for basketball began She loved to attend the annual Isola School reunions. She had a love for SEC basketball like no other. Her first love was Tenseness Lady Vols, her second was MSU Lady Bulldogs. She loved going to all of her grand kids ballgames to cheer them on. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Cecil Duthu. They married on May 2, 1958. She was a very caring and loving person who loved visiting with everyone to reminiscing over the past. Margaret had many hobbies. She loved making stain glass pictures and watching her hummingbirds. She also had a green thumb and could grow any flower you could imagine.
Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Duthu; parents Ruby Walker Taylor and Guy Taylor; father Robert Taylor; daughter, Jan Duthu Swindell; boys, Ted Powell, Billy Powell, Howard Powell.
She leaves behind to share their memories of her; daughter, Tracy Smith (Randy); sister Phyllis Powell Long; brother-in-law Jerry Duthu (Charlotte), grandchildren; Brian Smith (Lauren), Stephanie Snyder (Johnathan), Tyler Smith (Anna Rodgers); great grandchildren, Skylar Snyder, Khole Snyder, Ava Smith, Hunt Smith, Ellington Smith and a very special niece, Sherri Long and a host of other nieces and nephews as long a host of cousins and friends
Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at her church, Eastside Baptist Church. Visitation will began at 1 PM to be followed by the service at 2 PM, Interment will follow at Greencrest Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Devona Jones and Grace Hospice who made her final journey a blessing.
