Nathan Ulysses Peacock, a longtime resident of
Greenville, MS passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Greenville, MS on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11 am. Friends may visit from 10 am until Mass time. Interment will be at at Indianola City Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Father Sanchez will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Jones, Matthew Giachelli, John Elliot Ward, Frankie Peacock, David Michael Peacock, and Coulter Ward. Nathan was born in Heathman, MS on January 19, 1932 to George Peacock and his wife Lottie Pearson Peacock. Nathan, whose mother died when he was age 5, grew up among an industrious and faith-filled family with a loving father, grandparents and siblings who loved and supported one another. He attended Mississippi Delta Community College and in 2003 was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in football and track for 1954-1956.
Nathan married his sweetheart, Mary Louise Bianca of
Indianola, MS on September 16, 1956, and they were married for 56 years. His family grew to include his wife's large family whom he loved dearly.
He was owner/operator of Peacock's DX Service Station for 14 years. From 1976-1989 he worked for Security Barge Line and TPC Transportation respectively. Encouraged by his wife and family, Nathan joined the Roman Catholic Church at age 70 and assisted the priest during daily Mass until Covid. He will be remembered for his strength, straight forward comments, enjoyment of engaging in conversations with others, a knowledge of most subjects and respect and fear of the Lord.
He is survived by his five children, Nathan (the late Allison Peacock), Suwanee, GA; Sharon (the late Mark Jones), Ocean Springs, MS; Donna Adams, Lake Village, AR; Lisa (Win) Ward, Natchez, MS; David (the late Heidi Peacock), Lexington, SC; Grandchildren Mandi (Justin) Fair, Mary Kathryn (Jimmy) Kight, Andrew (Jordan) Adams, David Michael Peacock, Jr, Catherine Anne Peacock, Rebecca Peacock, Coulter Ward, John Elliott Ward, Matthew (Olivia) Jones, Stuart (Frankie) Jones, and Stacey (Kyle) Laughlin, and 16 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise, infant granddaughter Angela Ward, parents George and Lottie and siblings Nelson Peacock, Inez Williams, Heloise Johnson, Geordie Peacock, and Angelo Peacock.
The family is grateful for the compassionate and dedicated caregivers at Washington Care and Grace Hospice as well as the many years of dedicated attentive medical care by Dr. Jerry Cunningham.
