It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggy" Louise Fairchild. Peggy passed away peacefully at home on June 17th, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on February 23rd, 1954, to the late Earl & Margaret "Peg" Scott, she spent her life bringing love & joy to all who knew her.
Peggy was a 1972 graduate of Sharpsville High School and a lifelong resident of Sharpsville, PA. Her warm heart and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure in the close-knit community. She was a hairdresser prior to becoming a school bus driver for Sharpsville School District working for Bortner Bus Company for 32 years. Her kindness & attentiveness ensured that countless children felt safe & cared for on their way to & from school.
In her leisure time, Peggy found immense joy in her hobbies, such as ceramics, but especially loved playing bingo & spending quality time with her grandchildren. Her love for her grandkids was unwavering; she cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with laughter and warmth. Peggy's family was her greatest treasure, and she took pride in being the heart of the family. While healthy, she was a member of the Valley Church of God in Hermitage, PA.
Peggy was the cherished wife of Gerald D "Jerry" Fairchild, Jr, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of love & laughter. Together they built a home that was a sanctuary for their family, embodying the values of compassion, generosity & unwavering support. They enjoyed hosting parties and events and always made sure everyone was spoiled and well fed. She never failed to make sure each holiday was special & memorable.
Peggy leaves behind her devoted & loving husband, Gerald D "Jerry" Fairchild, Jr, two daughters, Kimberly (Shirk) Burns (Roger), Connie (Shirk) Muniak (Michael), a son Ronald David Bell Jr "Baby Boy", a step-son, Jerry Fairchild. She was Nana to her grandchildren, Marina Margaret Burns, Roger Paul Burns, Gabriella Louise Muniak, Mitchell Muniak, Matthew Muniak, Alexis Fairchild and Emma Fairchild. She also had three great grandchildren, Aylin Shirk, Sariah Lewis & Dean Lewis. One of her final prayers came true when she was able to meet & hold her great, great granddaughter, Daytona Malee Cook prior to her passing. She also leaves behind her cherished & spoiled Shih-Tzu "Kara".
Peggy was loved deeply by her sister Marie Popatak (Greg), her brother John Scott (Melinda), brother in law Don Baltes, sister in law Cheryl Scott. Along with Peggy's parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Valarie Malee Shirk, granddaughter Karissa Malee Shirk, Karissa's fiancé Jesse Lewis, who Nana loved like her own, brother Earl Scott & sister, Annette Klenke Baltes.
She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins, who celebrated countless celebrations at Aunt Peggy & Uncle Jerry's home.
Peggy lived a life full of love; she was a radiant soul who illuminated the lives of everyone that had the privilege of knowing her. Her selfless nature and heart of gold were evident in everything she did and her legacy as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother & friend will be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Peggy, your heart of gold, selfless spirit, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. Until we meet again.
