Margaret Banaszek Holman, 93, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Millcreek Community Hospital. She was born in Erie on May 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Anthony and Francis Zreniak Banaszek.
She was a graduate of East High School. Along with her husband, she was a co-owner and operator of Starlite Hotel and Golden Goose Cafe.
Margaret was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Stanislaus, St. Andrews, and Holy Trinity. She was also a member of the Siebenbuerger Club, The Falcons, & the Red Hat Society. Margaret was also very active at the GECAC Senior Center.
Margaret enjoyed the casinos, traveling, and church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Holman Sr.; her grandson, Gerald Holman III; her sisters, Florence Kobylinski, Stella Bargielski, Eleanor Maleski, Irene Banaszek, and Leona Schwab; and her brothers, Richard and Harry Banaszek.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Holman Sr. of North Carolina and Gerald Holman Jr. (Laura) of Illinois; her grandchildren, Kelli Holman and Donald Holman Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Juliauna Voorhis and Miles Valimont; her great-great-grandson, Apollo Voorhis; her close friend and companion, Walter Kuligowski; her many loving friends and neighbors; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday at Saint Peter Cathedral, 230 W. 10th St., Erie, Pa 16501 at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, Pa 16504.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s the Apostle Parish at 2801 W. 6th St., Erie, Pa 16505.
