Margaret McDannel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel on Dec. 9, 2025.
Margaret A. "Peg" McDannel, age 92, entered the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Kingston Residence of Marion surrounded by the love of her family.
On November 12, 1933 Peg was born in Fostoria, Ohio, to the late John F. and Velma M. (Struble) Myers. Peg attended Upper Sandusky High School and graduated with the Class of 1951.
Since Peg was in the 1st grade, she caught the eye of a young man named, Richard E. "Dick" McDannel. From that point on their love story began, and on May 5, 1956 they were united in marriage. During their 66 years of marriage, Peg was honored to stand by Dick's side for all of his work, specifically his work with the veterans.
Peg shared an unbreakable bond with her only daughter, Jennifer. From childhood through every stage of Jennifer's adulthood, Peg was her biggest supporter and cheerleader. She stood proudly by Jennifer's side through every accomplishment, challenge, and milestone, offering unconditional love, guidance, and encouragement. Their relationship was one of Peg's greatest joys.
Peg was also a devoted and enthusiastic Mee Mee. She loved attending her grandchildren's events; whether it was a game, a concert, or a school program. She was always the first to arrive, proudly saving seats for everyone, making sure her family felt supported and celebrated. Her presence and unwavering love became a cherished part of every moment. Peg was also extremely proud to be a great-grandparent.
For many years, Peg was part of a close-knit circle of friends from Upper Sandusky consisting of six to seven loving couples who became an extended family. She cherished her lifelong friend, Donna Kimmel, who continued to support Peg in her journey of Alzheimer's with regular visits and cards. In retirement, some of Peg's fondest memories were spending time with Dick at the campground, travelling to Florida for the winter, and taking rides in her Mustang convertible before her weekly Friday morning hair appointment. Friends were often a big part of these adventures as they tried to out do each other in shenanigans and practical jokes. Peg often said with a smile, "Boy did we have fun!"
Peg had a tender heart for her dogs, who brought her constant companionship, laughter, and comfort. They were her loyal friends, and she loved them dearly, showering them with affection and treating them as part of the family.
Peg will be remembered for her love for her family, cheering on her grandchildren and their friends who considered, Peg as their Mee Mee as well. Her memory will continue to bring light and warmth to all who were blessed to know her.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter, Jennifer L. (Barry) Adams; grandchildren: Jordan (Emily) Adams and Bryce (Sara) Adams; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Eleanor, Isabelle, Mitchell, and Lucy; brother, Frank (Shirley) Myers; sister, Mary Rife; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard E. "Dick" McDannel; and brother-in-law, Eugene "Gene" Rife.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to VFW Post 7201 or Tranquility Hospice.
Visitation will be held 4:30PM-6PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel; 360 E. Center St., Marion, OH 43302. Immediately following, the Funeral Ceremony will be held at 6PM.
