Margaret Anne Shahan Moody was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 22, 2025. Peggy, 81, of South Bend, was the devoted wife of Peter Moody and mother to their six children. Born in Atlanta, GA, on November 8, 1943 and raised in Nashville, TN, Peggy studied art at Vanderbilt University and graduated from Peabody Teachers College. A talented lifelong artist and teacher, Peggy touched every part of her community with her dedication, joy, and faith. While enthusiastically devoted to homemaking and raising her six children, Peggy engaged with her South Bend community in countless ways including neighborhood associations, painting clubs, prayer groups, endless charitable organizations, and most notably Sacred Heart Parish where she enjoyed many teaching and leadership roles. Peggy's outreach extended to her own home, where she welcomed refugee families and devoted foster daughter, Debbie McCalister. After raising her children, Peggy went on to run a popular preschool, The Children's Community Cooperative, where her unique and creative teaching style inspired parents and small children alike. A life hallmarked by her love for children, joy in art, and faith in Christ, Peggy is survived by her husband Peter, their six children John (Tammy) Moody, Joe (Melissa) Moody, Ben (Jackie) Moody, Becky (Obadiah) Swafford, Anne (Mike) Nolan, and Bill (Natalie) Moody, twenty-four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Kaniewski Funeral Home from 12-2 on January 27th, followed by a funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Basilica at Notre Dame at 2:30.
