Funeral services for Margaret Moore, 74 of Paige, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Deacon Alvin Frerich officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Paige. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will recited Sunday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
Margaret Ann (Stall) Moore, 74, was called to her heavenly home on May 16, 2023 with her family surrounding her with love. She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma, and devout Catholic.
Margaret was born on June 30, 1948, in Smithville, Texas. At the age of 6 she moved to Rockne where she was raised by Sylvester and Ella Goertz. She was confirmed and had her first communion into the Catholic faith on February 21,1960. In June 1966, Margaret graduated from Bastrop High School.
Upon graduating high school, she went to work for the City of Austin in customer service where she worked on and off for 26 years until she retired in December of 2003. Besides working with the city, Margaret has worn many hats during her working years ranging from, customer service representative, data entry clerk, childcare provider, and a stay-at-home mom/housewife.
In 1970, Margaret became a first-time mother when she welcomed her son Sean into the world. In 1971, she met the love of her life, Dennis Moore. They were united in marriage one year later on March 10,1972, shortly after they wed Dennis legally adopted Sean. As a family they settled down in Austin, Texas and in 1974 welcomed their daughter Shea into the world. During their time in Austin, they attended service at St. Peters Catholic Church, they lived in Austin for 48 years and raised two children Sean and Shea. On her birthday in 1996, she welcomed her first grandchild Alexis, whom she was excited to share her birthday with. Six short months later she welcomed her second grandchild Caylah and in 2005 she welcomed her third and final grandchild, Ryan. In 2015 Margaret was diagnosed with frontal temporal dementia. In 2018, they moved to Paige, Texas into their daughter Shea's house where Shea and Alexis' families helped take care of her for 4 ½ years until the Lord called her home.
Margaret loved going on family vacations, specifically the beach. She enjoyed taking her kids and grandkids to the beach every year for summer vacation. Margaret was also known for always having a camera in her hand, she loved capturing those special family moments. She also loved making her special homemade chocolate cake for her family's birthdays every year.
Margaret was proceeded in death by her childhood caretakers Sylvester and Ella Goertz; father and mother-in-law, Robert Sr. and Nelda Moore; brother-in-law, Robert (Pinky) Moore Jr; brother-in-law, Dennis Barnard; brother-in-law, Larry Mundine; nephew, David (little Dave) Moore.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Dennis Moore of Paige; son, Sean Moore and life partner Loree Mathison of Paige; daughter, Shea Urban and her husband Mike of Paige; granddaughter, Caylah Moore of San Marcos; granddaughter Alexis Lopez and her husband Berto of Paige; grandson, Ryan Urban of Paige; sister in law, Kathy Davidson of Crockett; brother in law, David Moore and wife Glenda of Bastrop; brother in law, Johnny Moore and wife Sharon of Paige; sister in law, Cindy Barnard of Red Rock along with numerous nieces and nephews and treasured friends.
Serving as pall bearers will be Ryan Urban, Mike Urban, Berto Lopez, Chad Marrs, Jeff Barnard, and Eric Barnard. Honorary pall bearers will be her two granddaughters Alexis Lopez and Caylah Moore.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the ASPCA, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, or to the charity of one's choice.
