Margaret E. Simmons, 92, of Flora Vista, New Mexico, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 19th, 2024, in Aztec, New Mexico. She was born November 4th, 1931, in Lake, Mississippi to James and Nannie Lue Wolfe. She was one of seven children. Margaret graduated high school and then completed nursing school thereafter. She met the love of her life, Rony Simmons, in her hometown, who she later married in Socorro, New Mexico, where her family had relocated.
Margaret and Rony then moved to Farmington, New Mexico and lived 10 beautiful years just the two of them enjoying life and living to its fullest. They went on to have three children.
Margaret worked at San Juan Regional Hospital and later retired from Presbyterian Medical Services.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Rony, her parents, and her four siblings.
She is survived by her three children, Wendell (Katy) Simmons, Douglas (Barbara) Simmons, Rhonda Simmons, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret lived her life putting God first always. She was very devoted to her husband and children. She enjoyed her earlier days teaching Sunday school, watching basketball, and living each day with her beautiful kind smile. She never took anything for granted and loved always. Although she will be dearly missed, her spirit will live on in each of us forever.
A funeral service will be held Friday May 31st at Grace Baptist Church 2200 Sullivan Avenue Farmington NM 87401 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Josh Simmons, Travis Kleinhans, Coty Simmons, Kim Black, Matt Herbaugh, and Mark Gammon. Honorary Pallbearers are The Caring Staff at Cranes Roost of Aztec, New Mexico. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Margaret, please visit our Tree Store.
