Margaret "Peggy" (Minnich) Viszneki, age 87, of Penn Hills, died on October 2, 2025. Born on September 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Patsy and Mildred DeShantz, and the late George and Ann Minnich.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Richard "Sonny" Viszneki, with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life full of laughter, support, and unwavering commitment to their family.
Peggy was the loving mother of Patty Viszneki, Lesa Mastermonico (the late Rocco), and she was predeceased by her sons Joe and Mark Viszneki. She was a devoted grandma to Tommy Mckinney (Janelle), Christina Mease (Jimmy), Sonni Mckinney (Andy), Shawna Kosko (Tom), Anthony Morinello (Jenn), Gia Mastermonico, and the late Jeff Morinello. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her twelve great-grandchildren. Peggy was the sister of the late Lillian Braun and the late Danny DeShantz, and a loving aunt to Lilly, Peggy, and Judy.
Known affectionately around the neighborhood as Mrs. V., Peggy was a second mother to many. Her home was a hub of love and care, where everyone was welcome, and no one ever left hungry. She relished in hosting Sunday dinners, a tradition that knit the family and friends together. Peggy's zest for life was evident in her hobbies. She was a familiar face at bingo halls, dog races, and the casino, where her laughter and enthusiasm were as bright as the lights around her. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was always willing to offer a ride to anyone in need, earning her the nickname of the neighborhood taxi driver.
She will be laid to rest privately in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies alongside her husband.
