Marguerite Hogge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Great Neck Chapel on Mar. 21, 2025.
Marguerite Hogge was born Mary Marguerite White on July 9, 1930 in Kinnakeet, North Carolina. Like the Outer Banks, a place that was so dear to her heart, she was a wild beauty, fiercely independent with a resilient spirit and a gentle strength. She absolutely loved the beach and she passed that love on to her children and grandchildren, who have many fond memories of her singing "You Are My Sunshine" to them when they were little. This song has become a family refrain, and our skies are grey without her smile lighting up our world, as she peacefully passed away on March 17, 2025.
Marguerite was a member of several organizations throughout her life, including Planning Board member of Currituck County NC, the Sand Witches, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Carova Beach Volunteer Fire Department, where "Blue Eyes" was her handle on the CB radios. A testament to her longevity, she was a pioneer in natural wellness who enjoyed gardening, collecting shells, and caring for various animals including horses, dogs, bunnies, and doves. She was a long-time resident of Virginia Beach.
Marguerite leaves behind her brother Bob (Caroline) White, her daughter Rosemary (the late John) Hogarty, and her sons, Dallas "Pete" (Brenda) Hogge and Donnie (Cynde) Hogge, as well as her grandchildren Kevin, Eric, Heather, Jennifer, Erin, Meghan, Aileen, Alayna, Dallas, and Brandon, and her great-grandchildren Dylan, Anna, Jamie, Liam, Lily, Sean, James, Thomas, Dylan, and Emmeline.
She joins in spirit those who have passed before, including her beloved husband Pete, her children Gloria, Ronnie, and Baby Hogge, her mother Kathryn Earl Austin White, her father Columbus White, and her siblings Earl (Alice) White, Ray White, William (Laura) White, and Bessie (John) Newman, as well as Jack, her cherished little white dog whom she loved very much.
Calling hours will be held at Hollomon-Brown, 1264 N Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach on Monday, March 24 from 3pm-7pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at Hollomon-Brown at 11am followed by burial at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Virginia Order of Eastern Star. Their project supports service dogs. Make checks to Lynnhaven Chapter #184 OES, 5752 Lancelot Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
